World music awaits, with Kiran Ahluwalia
and the music of India and Pakistan!
Kiran Ahluwalia is an Indo-Canadian singer who has devoted much of her life to the art of Indian vocal music. Trained in classical Indian singing, she found herself drawn to the ghazal form and folk songs of Punjab.
The cconcert features guest conductor Anne Manson, who is recognized throughout the world for her conducting achievements. Example: the first woman to conduct at the Salzburg Festival, leading the Vienna Philharmonic!
Hear the ancient folk songs of India and Pakistan — right here in Winnipeg. It will be a classic MCO concert. Add into the mix the premiere of a new composition by Glenn Buhr, and you have the formula that has kept the MCO strong for 35 seasons.
