Xiao Nan Wang and George Gao on one stage!
Collaboration is the key! For this concert, two amazing musicians bring unique instruments to the stage: a rare Chinese flute in the hands of Xiao Nan Wang, and the erhu, played by none other than George Gao. Guest conductor Scott Yoo will take the podium for this concert.
We’ll hear Jim Hiscott’s arrangement of one of Xiao Nan Wang’s own compositions. Further repertoire will be announced.
Erhu master George Gao
Gao is an extraordinary erhu virtuoso (and an excellent composer) who has had a tremendous musical influence in both China and here in Canada.
People listening to George’s performances experience something familiar and new, yet magnificent and exciting. It isn’t surprising that Gao has been recognized as one of the most innovative and exciting musical talents in the world today.
